Background
316 Engineering, based in Peterborough, specialises in stainless steel fabrication services for a wide variety of industries both in the UK and worldwide including: food, pharmaceutical, water treatment, architectural and the offshore sector.
316 can offer eye-catching designs in textured, coloured, powder-coated or polished stainless steel, allowing clients to achieve stunning visual effects.
Co - founder and director Nick Johnson reveals the origin of the company’s rather enigmatic name. “316 is one of the top grades of stainless steel,” he explains. “We wanted a name that symbolised what we did as a company and one that would be both recognisable and remembered. Having originally brainstormed a wide variety of surname initial combinations and other equally forgettable names we finally settled on 316 Engineering, a name that would chime with industry professionals, and have overtones of quality too.”
Hardware plus support
Nick explains how 316 and Onyx first linked up. “Initially, Onyx approached us with a cold call,” he recalls. “We’d been considering upgrading our computer system for a while, but a large increase in the volume of business had not allowed us to commit the necessary time to the project.
Onyx has been very supportive and patient during this time and had maintained contact with us throughout our exceptionally busy period and this had allowed a good relationship to be formed between the two companies.
He believes that Onyx maintained contact through what must have been a frustrating time for them, as they genuinely believed they could offer the right solution to 316.
