OCIS delivers financial clarity for Hubbards |

Over the last few months, Onyx has been managing an accounting software upgrade for Hubbards, the long-established architectural metalwork designer and constructor based in Norwich. Thanks to Onyx’s proprietary Contract Intelligence module for Access, Hubbards managers now have a wealth of invaluable project data at their fingertips, allowing them to make better decisions, spot problems earlier and preserve profit margins. Late in 2008, Onyx advised Hubbards on an upgrade to Access Dimensions Lite, preparing a detailed proposal and liaising with senior executives at the firm. “Onyx’s presentations were professional and informative, and they spent a great deal of time introducing the product to our staff,” notes chairman Mark Hubbard. The upgrade included Onyx’s proprietary Contract Intelligence module, part of the Onyx Construction Industry Suite (OCIS). With fluid financial data updated in real time, this module provides clear visibility of cost overruns in time for managers to respond, so profit margins can be preserved. “We now have a real-time vision of what’s going on in the business,” comments Mark. “What we call our ‘project intelligence’ is greatly improved, as we can see what we’re spending against budgets and gauge our strengths and weaknesses in terms of estimating.”Dimensions has also allowed Hubbards to integrate its accounts and purchasing departments, streamlining two important areas of the business.The upgrade was followed up with training delivered in-house by Onyx staff over several weeks. “The training was highly professional,” comments Mark. “Onyx took a well-organised approach, creating training groups around our requirements and arranging dates and times to suit our needs.” Now a confirmed partner of the business, Onyx is currently working with Hubbards on a comprehensive IT review and upgrade, as well as the development of an IT policy. “2009 was a very busy year for us,” comments Mark Hubbard. “We’re now fit for purpose for 2010 and beyond, and much of that is thanks to Onyx.” 7/01/2010 |
